This particular type of Palm Tree is rare in Skopelos. Though all palms are non-native to the island, there are lots of other ornamental palms planted from nursery palms.
This Date Palm will be seeking male company, however briefly, next spring (April of May +/-). Her mate must be of the Phoenix dactylifera variety, a working tree and not merely an ornamental.
What Ms Palm Tree brings to the table are these babies…and a lot of them.
The problem with “these babies” is that they are unfertilized and pretty much useless, tasteless and tough. It’s a shame. So Ms. Tree is looking for some flowers from a mystery Mr. Tree, whose pollen can be sprinkled over Mrs. Tree’s receptacles in the Spring. Should I refer her to “Tinder”?

Thank you Tom for this informative article on the date palm. Has pollination ever happened with your date palm?
Also I was admiring your Christmas Cactus. Very beautiful color!
