Meh Gala, Meh Gala

The (Eurasian) Collared Dove is ubiquitous in Greece and now seemingly around the world in warm climates. You can recognize it by its black half collar and its 3 syllable coo which with a little imagination sounds (to us) like “Με Γάλα” (‘with milk’- when ordering coffee). You’ll see them perched usually in pairs or individually with a second dove nearby. Very elegant, slim and streamlined, but a bit noisy. All the time, ” Με Γάλα, Με Γάλα”.
