A short success story. I covered a small avocado tree with a plastic 10 liter paint pail before the storm last week. I removed the bucket this morning. There you go.

However, in the vicinity there are a lot of big limbs from olive trees down; snapped off from the weight of the snow. Trees that keep their leaves over the winter were worse off which includes wild scrub bushes. Almond trees did much better as they have yet to signs of new leaves. Younger trees of all types survived better than older trees. Nature at work pruning.

I scattered birdseed just after the snowfall but now it seems that the bird’s normal supply is returning as the snow melts. Typically for Skopelos, the snow melts rapidly once the temperature stays above 0º. Rivers, small lakes and puddles.

There will be firewood for next winter.
