Great Tit Birds

The Great Tit (Καλόγερος) in the photo mistakenly tried to fly a shortcut in through the studio door and out a window. It came to within 5mm of making it. Unfortunately for it (the Tit), a pane of glass got in the way and the bird slammed into it full speed falling to the floor unconscious. An official KO, motionless in the ring for 10 seconds. As such events had happened before, local knowledge concluded that the bird would survive once it came to and got over its wooziness.

Scooped up, taken outdoors and held gently, we waited for it to come around. One by one its eyes opened though its beak (dents and all) remained agape which we supposed was a sign of shock. The bird politely posed for photos and made no attempt to escape even when the holding hands were opened. After about 5 minutes recovery time something startled the Tit and it flew a short distance to a tree limb and then continued on to find either its mates or an insect to eat.

These birds are a big help in the orchards devouring insects and larvae in whatever fruit or nuts are uncollected or simply browsing a limb or tree trunk to eat a pest.
