My dear followers of SkopelosArts know that I sometimes veer dangerously away from Skopelos for my stories. Twice (two times) I have tried to alert readers to a subject which, 2.5 months ago, became slightly dear to my heart. This is the third post on the subject.

The eaglets in the National Arboretum (Washington DC ) are now 2.5 +/- months old and look as if they are ready to launch themselves into the void. They are stretching their wings and hopping up and down the branches near their nest. It won’t be long now before they are confident enough for a short flight. At night they “sleep” perching on branches.

I thought that you might be interested in these wonderful events, but you will have to check in once in a while to www.dceaglecam.org(klik) to watch eagles via the live cameras.

Remember that, due to the earth’s unfortunate roundness, there is a 7 hour time difference between Greece and Washington DC (7am here is midnight there).

  1. When “preening” there is evidence that the color of the tail feathers is beginning to change from dark to light.
