The port-side one-way thorough-fare was blocked temporarily yesterday afternoon. Though at first it appeared to be so, this was not angry farmers protesting pension cuts, nor angry seaman protesting pension cuts. This big boat had been in a Skopelos boat yard being refitted and it was finally ready to return to the sea.
Unfortunately, the way to the commercial port and boat ramp opposite Ghikas was/is closed so the transporter guys needed to wheedle their way through the ferry boat entrance to the launch pad. Not exactly threading a needle but close. Naturally such a public event featured the usual hosts of kibitzers offering their opinions and generally ‘helping out’.
The boat, without tractor, was launched some minutes later and was last seen steaming towards Alonissos.
